Patty and I lived high on the ridge above Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. When I retired from engineering in 2000 we decided to travel as much as we could, that we would be active in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and that I would follow a Masonic leadership path. At that time I also became Sr. Vice President of Operations of a publicly traded corporation that owned a considerable parcel of land in the country of Belize. So, that year we traveled south throughout Central America. We had a great time, visited many countries, saw pyramids, visited the ancient capital of Guatemala and spent some time at the Panama Canal. That was when we purchased our time-share in Cancun Mexico where we vacation every year. Due to space limitations I have omitted everything prior to our adventures leading to our move to Portland, Oregon. We knew we wanted to move to the mainland because traveling from the center of the pacific Ocean is difficult, adds a couple of days and an extra thousand dollars to each trip. We weren't sure where we would go except we wanted to settle in the northwest. The trip to Portland in 2005 cinched our decision.
