Executive Summary
I worked as Chief Plant Engineer for Alabama Pipe Manufacturing. Thereafter, much of my career was in the field of HVAC engineering, construction and project management. One major project I did was the Vehicle Maintenance Facility for the Maricopa County. I served as Chief Engineer for Precision Mechanical for several years and was responsible for the design and project management of many large apartment projects. As an engineer, I usually worked on projects and then moved on when the projects were finished. This afforded me the opportunity to gain a wide variety of experience in design and field supervision. I organized and managed several successful companies and organizations. I moved to Idaho where I worked in engineering and construction. One major project was serving as the Project Manager for a DOE experimental plasma fired boiler/generator project in Butte, Montana Power Plant. I also worked as Chief Engineer for CMP Mechanical and was responsible for all construction details, drawings, revisions and supervision in the field including all pre-fabrication for projects. We did the mechanical for the Morrison-Knudson World Headquarters Center Expansion. We also built several major office and apartment buildings and a research facility for the AEC.
In 1983 I moved to Hawaii where I worked as Quality Control Engineer for a contractor on the Army Tripler Hospital addition. I worked for several years for an engineering company as designer and field supervisor. Notable projects I did were: Westin Kauai and Westin Maui HVAC, mechanical; Kaena Point emergency generator replacement; Prince Kuhio Hotel boiler replacement; Moana Hotel renovation; Regency Hotel fire protection retrofit installation; and others; supervised installation of mechanical renovation at Pearlridge Shopping Center; worked as General Manager for a small general contracting company and as Project Manager for a Navy JOC project.
Project Engineer and Project Management: I worked on several projects including office buildings, hotels and as PM for an aircraft suppression facility at Hickum AFB; worked for Hawaiian Electric Company as the Facilities Engineer and provided technical supervision as well as served as contracting officer for many projects. I also engaged in the retail business for a couple of years; owned, operated and managed a nautical gift store in the Aloha Tower Market Place. Since my retirement from the electric company, I have served as Senior Vice President of Operations for WSF, a publicly traded corporation, directed and managed contracts regarding the company's considerable land holdings in Belize and Brazil. I have also additionally worked as a contracts consultant in the construction industry.
