One of our favorite vacation spots is Victoria, B.C., Canada and the wonderful gardens nearby. It was an old quarry and over 100 years ago the owner's wife started turning it into a garden. Today it is one of the most outstanding gardens in the western hemisphere. We will be adding much more about Victoria and the gardens.
Victoria is the capital of British Columbia, Canada. Capital building shown with totem.
These photos taken at various locations in the gardens and at different times of the year are a representation of the beautiful flora displays within the gardens. There are many different areas with different layouts and designs. Therre are several restaaurants, indoor displays and gift shops. The garden is open year round and has a different feel at each season. Winter is really fun because, being inCanada, it does have snow on the gournd with many lighted displays. If you get a chance to visit Victoria, don't mess Butchart Gardens. We try to go each year ourselves.
At the end of the Japanese garden is a lagoon open to the ocean with a few small boats. Very nice setting.
Patty and I are pearched on a wall near the customer center and water lily display. It is early spring and the tulips were in bloom.
